Shirin Ebadi is a hero for me. Even though she is not a Bahá’í she is risking her life for them and is doing what she can to fight against the prejudice and suffering of Bahá’ís, women, and other groups the Iranian government discriminates against.  She is a model to all of us of someone who can look beyond the boundaries of religion and serve humankind as a whole.

This week, however, the plight of the 7 and the comunity they served has gained internation attention due to public condemnations from such contrasting sources as Rainn Wilson – the quirky co-star of “The Office” - and the European Union.  It seems that everytime the leaders of the Persian people do something in an attempt to eliminate the Bahá’í “threat” to their place of power they end up making matters worse for themselves.

My message to Iran’s misguided leadership: “Believe me guys, the harder you try the harder it gets.”
